Our motto sapere aude sums up what we offer in the sixth form: education with added daring to make you the best you can be! Our A level courses are traditional, excellent and, very successfully, add value to your qualifications.
Our results at A level are almost always the best or nearly the best for any state school in the region, but our value-added puts our achievements in the top few comprehensive schools nationally. Ofsted said:
"The Sixth Form is Outstanding... because the quality of teaching ... is outstanding. This means that students make excellent progress in all aspects of their learning, are happy, confident and have high ambitions for themselves.".
We welcome students from a wide range of schools across the North East, to join the 60% or so of our year eleven students who stay on.
Our reputation is built on the firm foundations of high quality teaching, careful monitoring of each student's needs and strong pastoral support.
Every Sixth Form student at Durham Johnston has
When you are in the sixth form you need to achieve the best you can so that the right platform is built for the future. The outstanding achievements of Durham Johnston sixth formers, both at school and after they leave, are testaments to their commitment and our education.
