An excellent start to 2019 which has included winning a County title.

On Tuesday our Key Stage 3 badminton teams were at Belmont for the Area tournament. We had two boys and two girls teams competing and all were very successful. Our boys A team remained unbeaten to win and our B team were 3rd.  It was a similar story in the girls event as our A team also won all their games to win the competition with our B team also in 3rd place. Both A teams now qualify for the County finals.

On Wednesday our Year 7 5-a-side team were at the Louisa Centre for the county finals. This was an incredibly close competition with nearly all the games ending in a draw. However a 2 – 1 victory against Venerable Bede in our penultimate game saw us win the competition and become County Champions.

On Thursday our U16 girls football team took on Lanchester St Bede’s in the County cup semi-final. They are an excellent team and the defending champions.  Despite  taking an early 1 – 0 lead and a battling performance we lost 4 – 1 with our goal coming from Emily Salmon.

Our Year 10 boys football team were also in county cup action yesterday taking on Hurworth in the quarter-final. It was a similar story as we took an early lead and were 2 – 1 at half-time. However the team played some excellent football in the second half eventually winning 4 – 2.

Last night our badminton teams were back at Belmont in the Key Stage 4 tournament. It was more good news and again both our boys and girls A teams remained unbeaten to win and reach the County finals.

Finally,  good luck tonight to our U16 basketball team who have travelled to Kettlethorpe School, Wakefield in the English Schools Cup.
